Welcome to our cabin nestled just outside the historic, town of Wesco. The cabin sits on the mill race built in the 1800s for Wilson’s Mill that served the families in the region. Wesco is an unincorporated community in southwest Crawford County. It is located on the Meramec River, approximately eight miles southwest of Steelville. Wesco was first named Wilson’s Mills, after James Wilson, the proprietor of a local mill. A post office called Wilsons Mills was established in 1877, and the name was changed to Wesco in 1907. The present name is a contraction of the Western Electric Supply Company, a telephone utility.

Our cabin situated along the scenic Meramec River just across the bridge in Wesco, where James Wilson proprietor of Wilson’s Mill built the dam diverting the water to create the mill race which powered the mill. The cabin grounds are secluded yet spacious and provide access to the river. There are beautiful spots for fishing, wading, swimming, floating or just relaxing and listening to the waterfall. The early morning hours provide opportunities to watch otters playing in the river, deer grazing in the yard and eagles diving for fish.

Description

Cabin has 3 bedrooms (master has a king bed, 2nd bedroom has a full size bed, 3rd has a king bed, there are bunk beds, and twin roll away bed in the screened porch, full kitchen, bathroom with tub/shower, dining room and living room, with a screened porch for added functionality.  You can cook inside or go outside.  We have a charcoal grill, and a propane griddle available for your use.  Lots of chairs, a picnic table, gazebo with table and chairs, and a sand box with toys are all part of the grounds.

*Tent camping is allowed and we have two electrical and water hook up for your camper. Sewer hook and dump station are not available on site.
